Seducing Spiders Tuesday 28th October, 2008. The Art Workers Guild, London

'Seducing Spiders' was an evening of talks, experiments and music exploring methods of seducing spiders. With contributions from Scientist Peter Smithers and experimental musicians Oort (Richard Guest, Zali Krishna, Ellen McGee and Mark Pilkington), we investigated spider courtship and mating, spiders' attraction to music, and the history of spider silk spinning machines. The evening included a rare screening of the 1966 spider documentary 'Walk into the Parlour', directed by Gerald Thompson.

Video stills from the event:

'He began anew to give a concert to these animals, who seemed to come every day in greater numbers, as though they had invited others, so that in the course of time he found a hundred gather about him'.
